As our practice navigates the ins and outs of dental insurance, we feel it is important to provide some insight on understanding dental insurance from a patient’s point of view.
We recently discontinued our network participation with Anthem Blue Cross/ Blue Shield and Delta Dental. We will continue to submit claims as out of network providers on our patient’s behalf to all insurance companies! How your claim is processed varies based on the specific contract that your policy provider has negotiated with your specific insurance company. Prior to your appointment, we are happy to confirm that your plan has out of network coverage and what your estimated co-payment (if any) may be.

We are finding that many plans continue to have excellent out of network coverage!

Spring Cleaning

We’ve all heard that you should visit the dentist every six months, but is it really that important?  Simply put, YES.

The first step to good oral health is brushing and flossing at home.  This gets rid of lingering food particles, combats bacteria that causes bad breath, and helps to prevent buildup of plaque.  While it’s generally difficult to get a deep cleaning at home, our dental hygienists and dentists have the tools to get to those hard-to-reach places and remove any tartar that has built up.  They will also check for cavities, gum tissue problems, fractures or discrepancies in the enamel of your teeth, as well as keep an eye on any reoccurring trouble areas you may have.

However, one of the most compelling reasons for paying a visit to your dentist regularly is prevention.  Poor dental hygiene can lead to gum disease, tooth decay and loss, and can have negative effects on your overall health.  According to the Center for Disease Control nearly fifty percent of adults in the U.S. are affected by gum disease.

End Of Year Insurance Benefits

As we near the end of your insurance year, we wanted to remind you to take advantage of any unused dental benefits. Every year you receive a maximum amount from your dental insurance company, and in most cases the unused portion of this amount is lost when the new insurance year starts. We are pleased to announce a new dentist joining our team at The Dentists on Bluemound.

On July 6, 2021 we will welcome “Dr. Corbin” Rusteberg to The Dentists on Bluemound team

Dr. Corbin Rusteberg attended Marquette University, earning BS and DDS degrees in Marquette’s Dental Scholars fast-track program. He chose to continue his education by spending the last year receiving hospital dental training at a level- I trauma center in Charlotte, NC.  That training included head and neck surgical oncology, emergency and internal medicine, as well as working in a comprehensive hospital-based dental clinic.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Special Care Dentistry Association, Christian Medical and Dental Association and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is passionate about learning and prioritizes continuing education.

Outside of work, Dr. Rusteberg is an avid golfer.  He spent nine years working as a golf caddie growing up, as well as coaching basketball and volleyball for Wisconsin Special Olympics. He enjoys both playing and watching sports, and can be seen rooting for Marquette’s Golden Eagles along with the Tottenham Hotspur soccer team. He looks forward to returning to the Midwest to be closer to his family in Chicago.

We would like all of you to help us welcome Dr. Corbin Rusteberg to our dental family as he joins us in the tradition of providing excellent dental care to the people we are privileged to serve.

We understand you may be concerned about your health and safety — and we are too! As doctors of oral health, that is always our top priority.

Dentists were infection control experts before the pandemic, and we have strengthened already-strict infection control procedures in accordance with American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Covid Protocol

We hope this update finds you and your family in good health.

Safety of both patients and staff has always been a top priority. That philosophy hasn’t changed, but the measures upon which to ensure it have.  As we continue to navigate this landscape we wanted to inform you of additional steps we have taken to provide a continued safe environment in the office.   Last summer we installed Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization systems within our HVAC units to deliver clean indoor air that is safe and healthy.

Staff will continue to wear optimal protective gear, use hospital-grade disinfectants, administer the latest sterilization protocols, and utilize single-use disposable materials – always remaining consistent with the latest CDC and ADA guidelines.  We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance regarding proper infection control procedures and safe practices in the Dental Office/Healthcare setting.

We will continue utilizing the following COVID procedures that we put in place last spring:

  • If you have a fever, are experiencing any COVID symptoms, or have recently been exposed; please contact the office and we will assist in rescheduling your appointment.
  • Our waiting room will continue to remain free of magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
  • We ask that you arrive promptly at your appointment time, not too early, to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
  • We are a healthcare facility and are following the CDC and ADA guidelines for Dental Offices.
    If you are not vaccinated we ask that you wear a mask.

It is our firm belief that preventive dental care is important to your overall good health.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep you, our staff, and every patient, safe in our practice. Dentistry Is As Safe As Ever

As the world begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, one question that we are often asked is “Do you think it’s safe for patients to come back?” Our immediate answer is an overwhelming, “YES!”

Dental offices are one of the SAFEST places you can be.

Dentistry is a profession of obsessive-compulsive cleaners. Dental treatment rooms are cleaned with bactericidal and viricidal cleaners before & after each patient visit. Our practice utilizes barrier protection to prevent germs from spreading when we touch things. All instruments are heat sterilized before each patient and then sterilized again afterward. In addition to utilizing many disposable products, we wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the safety of our patients.

Dentistry was safe before the COVID-19 outbreak and it remains safe after.

Recently, much has been written about aerosols and their potential danger, especially as it relates to COVID-19. Our human bodies have a well-developed immune system to protect us from any potential dangers that we may be exposed to from aerosols in our daily lives. As it specifically relates to aerosols generated by dental procedures, the American Dental Association (ADA) has been a leader in helping dental offices remain safe before, during, and after the pandemic. With guidelines that have been developed through science and fact, this includes improved safety measures that were developed with both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). Dentistry was safe before the COVID-19 outbreak and it remains safe after. To date, there has not been one instance of a major COVID-19 outbreak from a dental office, throughout the entire world.

Since the pandemic began, dental offices have been taking additional safety measures to protect their patients and team. These include:

  • Social distancing
  • COVID-19 screening before each patient visit, including taking temperatures
  • Limiting the number of people who are in the office
  • Sanitization of patient hands
  • Increased PPE for both patients and the dental team

Our office is even going above and beyond by improving our air filtration with air purification devices.

These additional measures, in addition to a dentist’s regular infection control procedures, make dental offices one of the safest places you can be.

There’s a lot of uncertainty when it comes to COVID-19. One thing we will assure our patients about is that going to the Dentist is, and always has been, safe.

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines.  We firmly believe that all dental care is essential; oral health is essential to general health and well-being at every stage of life.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask screening questions. If you have a fever, are experiencing any COVID symptoms, or have recently been exposed, please contact the office and we can assist in rescheduling your appointment.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use immediately upon approaching the front desk and your temperature will be taken.
  • For the next several weeks our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. We ask that you come alone to your appointment, if you need assistance to get into and out of the office, we will ask that person to kindly wait in the car while you are being treated.  We ask that only one parent accompany a young child into the treatment room.
  • We ask that you arrive promptly at your appointment time, not too early, to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
  • We also ask that you please wear a mask when coming into the office.
